3) Ann

Ann works at the tool shop along with her father Michael, and eventually with Louis. She is tomboyish, and loves to work. An ambitious girl, Ann can usually be found in her shop, or sometimes in the mines also.

Personality: Tomboy.

Rival: Blue.

4) Dia*

Dia is rich and taken care of by Gina. She will leave if you don't become friends with her! She and Gina move in together, but Dia can leave anytime independently. The perfect match for someone who cares for others and who can see the good in people.

To get her to move in:

- Ship at least 30 Herbs (of any kind)
- Have Alex at one heart
- Have Martha already moved in

Personality: Sickly.

5) Eve*

Eve is the waitress in the local bar in Flower Bud Village. She is flirty and social. Give her Moonstones from the Mine to easily woo her, or Soda if you can. The perfect match for someone who likes a social girl who isn't shy in the least. To get her to move in, see the requirements for Doug.

Personality: Outgoing and flirty.

Likes/Dislikes: Flowers, Moonstones, Soda / Weeds, Rocks.

Rival: Dan.

6) Ellen*

Ellen co-runs the animal shop. She'll give you your dog at the beginning of the game, and lives with her dad Hans and her cousin Blue. She is not really a girly-girl, and knows her way around farming well. The perfect match for an avid farmer! Give her stuff from your farm to get her to like you.

Personality: Just plain nice.

Likes/Dislikes: Flowers, Eggs, Milk, Breadfruit / Weeds, Rocks.

Rival: Carl.

7) Gina*

Gina is Dia's attendant. She comes with Dia to Flowerbud Village. She's sweet, caring, and a little timid. Ship at least 30 herbs, have Alex at one heart, and have Martha moved in to town to get her. She works at the Sanitarium.  A good choice if you like a shy, smart, and quiet girl. Tp get her to move in, see the requirements for Dia.

Personality: Shy and smart.

Likes/Dislikes: Top quality onions, Top quality bell peppers / Balms.

Rival: Doctor Alex

8) Sarah/Gwen*

Gwen lives in the Inn. She moves to town during the 1st Horse Race. She's the onyl female horse-rider! Gwen's a bit of a tomboy, but she can cook up a storm just as well. She's good-looking and has a nice attitude, making her a popular choice. She lives with her Uncle, Doug at the Perch Inn. To get her to move in, see the requitements for Doug.

Personality: Outgoing.

Likes/Dislikes: Flowers, Pizza, Carrots / Weeds, Rocks.

Rival: Bob

9) Katie*

Katie hangs out at Carl's Coffee Shop. She arrives when Carl's Coffee Shop opens, in Autumn. She's cute, sweet, but can be temperamental sometimes. Some people look at her as a sweet young girl, others think she's a brat - it's your decision!

To get her to move in:
- Katie will move in during Autumn of Year 1.

Personality: Sweet, talkative, young.

Likes/Dislikes: Gems, Marmalade, Jewelery/??

Rival: Joe

10) Lyla*

Lyla appears at the flower festival, but it takes a lot to get her to move in: Ship lots of flowers, clay, berries, and other miscellaneous items and have Saibara's workshop and she will eventually move in.
She owns a shop (Heartful Lyla) where she will sell gifts - the better friends you are with her, the more stuff she will sell.  A good choice for someone who likes an older, educated, and mature woman.

To get her to move in:
- Ship at least 10 Clays
- Ship at least 10 Very Berries
- Ship at least 10 Blueberries
- Ship at least 10 Pink Cat Flowers
- Ship at least 10 Moonstones
- Ship at least 10 of any ore
- Ship at least 30 Moondrop Flowers

Personality: Mature, Social

Rival: Louis

11) Maria*

Maria is the librarian of the town - she isn't acctually shy, which is a common misconception, she is just withdrawn. She doesn't go out much, but she is very interesting to talk to once you make better friends with her. She addresses more serious matters than other people in Flowerbud, making her a bit more of a realistic character. Her sentences always sound intelligent! Great for a guy who likes a girl with big b....rains.

To get her to move in:

- She will move in on the 10th of Spring, Year 1.

Personality: Sophisticated, withdrawn.

Likes/Dislikes: Sashimi/Weeds, Rocks

Rival: Ray

Past Appearances: Harvest Moon (SNES) (In this game she was the girl who was always at the church!)

12) Nina*

Nina works at the Plant Store, with her mother Liz. She's got a girly high-pitched voice, and is also pretty girly. Some guys like that, though, so there's Nina! She adores strawberries, so make sure to give her some if you're planning to woo her.

Personality: Ditsy and girly.

Likes/Dislikes: Flowers, Strawberries, Eggs, Herbs/Weeds, Rocks.

Rival: Basil.

13) Blue*

Blue is the farmer at the ranch that sells you animals and animal supplies. He lives with his uncle and Ellen, and he's kind of reserved but opens up later on. He hangs out with his animals mostly, but he's a nice guy at heart.

Personality: Caring and shy.

Likes/Dislikes: Potatoes, Eggs, Milk/Weeds, Rocks.

Rival: Ann.

Past Appearances: None.

14) Basil*

Basil is a wandering botanist who comes to town after you ship herbs and flowers. He leaves every winter and comes back in the spring when the plants have returned. Don't get him confused with Basil from Mineral Town, who is Mary's father - they may look similar and have the same name, but they are different!

Personality: Outgoing.

Likes/Dislikes: Crops, Flowers/Weeds, Rocks.

Rival: Nina.

15) Carl*

Carl starts out working with Duke and Eve at the bar, but then he opens up his own Cafe in Autumn and works with Katie. Although it's easy to get it mixed up, he is not with Katie! His heart belongs to Ellen. He's got a younger personality than the other guys, so girls who like sweet young guys will love Carl.

Personality: Can I say 10 year old?

Likes/Dislikes: Honey, Apples, Sweet Potatoes, Eggs, Milk, All Sweets/Weeds, Rocks.

Rival: Ellen.

Past Appearances: None!

16) Dan*

Dan works at the Paradise Winery with Ronald and eventually Meryl. He loves all the romantic stuff, and bears similarities to Kai from Mineral Town. He falls for Eve, of course.

See Ronald to find out how to get Dan to move in.

Personality: Really outgoing, almost to a fault.

Likes/Dislikes: Berries, Wine / Weeds, Rocks.

Rival: Eve.

17) Dr. Azuma/Dr. Alex*

Dr. Alex is the village's doctor. He works with Martha later on in the game, and falls in love with Gina when she moves in. He's very kind, down-to-earth, and understanding, so many girls seem to like him.

Personality: While not too expressive, he is intelligent and cares about your health.

Likes/Dislikes: Herbs, Poisonous Mushrooms, Coral, Mushrooms, Veggie Juice / Weeds, Rocks.

Rival: Gina.

Past Appearances: None!

18) Ray

Ray is a fisherman. He can be found near bodies of water almost all the time, and sometimes at the bar. He is competetive, and extremely passionate about fishing! He can be found at the Island sometimes too, once you unlock it.

Personality: Competetive.

Likes/Dislikes: Sushi, Fish / Weeds, Rocks.

Rival: Maria.

Past Appearances: None!

19) Loon/Louis*

Louis is a very nerdy looking guy who arrives at the Fireworks Festival (see festival page). He'll move in with Ann and Michael to help with their inventions, but can be seen hanging around Lyla's shop a lot too. Hmm..

To get him to move in:


- Ship a lot of ores.
- Have the Junk Shop upgraded
- Meet him at the Fireworks festival.

Personality: Nice and Intelligent.

Likes/Dislikes: Unknown.

Rival: Lyla.

20) Hyatt/Kurt*

Kurt is one of the carpenter brothers. He is more aloof than his brother, Joe, but he becomes nicer as you become better friends with him.

Personality: Anti-social.

Rival: Dia.

21) Sheen/Joe*

Joe is the second carpenter brother, only much more outgoing and fun to be around than his brother. He's won over by fish, so be sure to give him that! He's not as good a fisherman as Ray, though.

Personality: Very outgoing.

Likes/Dislikes: Fish, Sushi/Weeds, Rocks, Yogurt.

Rival: Katie.

22) Kazan/Bob*

Bob is first introduced as the shipping man who will take all your  crops and bring back money. He hangs out with Blue a lot and he's a nice guy, even if he looks rough. Besides that, I don't know much else about him.

Personality: Outgoing.

Likes/Dislikes: Eggs/Weeds, Rocks.

Rival: Gwen

23) Harvest Sprites

The loyal servants of the Harvest Goddess. They appear in the beginning scene of the game, in which they ask for your help in recovering notes. You will also encounter them on several events, but you can't give them gifts or make friends with them.


Personalities: Hopeful.

Likes/Dislikes: Uknown.

24) Harvest Goddess

The Harvest Goddess is turned to stone in the beginning of the game. With your help in recovering the notes, she may be returned to normal.

Personality: Amiable.

Likes/Dislikes: Uknown.

25) Mayor Theodore

Theodore is the mayor of the time. He greets you in the beginning scene of the game.

Personality: Enthusiatic, somewhat aloof.

Likes/Dislikes: Mushrooms, Eggs / ??

26) Mr. Gourmet

Mr. Gourmet is at some festivals and announces the winners of food festivals. He eventually stays in the inn run by Doug.

Personality: Uknown.

Likes/Dislikes: Uknown.

27) Reynaldo/Ronald

Ronald works at festivals in a little booth, but eventually comes to your town.

To get him to move in:

- Plant at least one tree
- Ship LOTS of berries
- Meet him and Dan at the horse races

Personality: Too eager.

Likes/Dislikes: Star Eggs/?.

28) Wayne/Doug

Doug is the owner of the Inn, and Gwen's uncle.

To get him to move in:

- Meet him at the Horse Race.

Personality: Relatively nice, fatherly.

Likes/Dislikes: Eggs/Rocks, Weeds.

29) Dean/Duke

Duke is the owner of the Moonlight bar (Carl and Eve work under him, before Carl opens up his own cafe). He will move in on Summer 1st of Year 1.

To get him to move in:

- Meet him at the Horse Race.

Personality: Has quite a temper.

Likes/Dislikes: Uknown.

30) Terry

Terry wanders around the woods. He is Eve's grand father, and if you marry her he will like you quite a bit. Give him mushrooms, since he loves those, but stay away from giving him toadstools. Also, don't always show him the animals or he might get mad.

Personality: The keeper of the animals.

Likes/Dislikes: Fish, Salads, Cabbage, Eggs, Soda, Mushrooms / Toadstools

31) Wood/Woody

Woody is, as you probably deducted from his name, the owner of the carpenter's shop. He has two boys, Kurt and Joe who work with him and help him out. Talk to him to buy more furniture or to build buildings. He likes mushrooms and lumber also.

Personality: He is always willing to help.

Likes/Dislikes: Eggplants, Mushrooms, Lumber / ??.

32) (Rival) Jamie

Jamie... is actually either a boy or a girl, depending on which gender your character is. In the English version , your character can actually marry Jamie, though I believe your game ends. Jamie will be quite the rival for you - even though he doesn't acctually hurt your chances at getting notes, he will always try and get a higher farming record than you.

He might act mean, but don't be mislead - sometimes he is trying to be nice. It sounds weird, but he/she is a complicated character.

Personality: Quite mean.

Likes/Dislikes: Dairy products, Veggie, Jam/Grape Juice, Turnips, Yam, Tomatoes, Cake / ??

33) Hans

Hans co-runs the animal ranch with Ellen. He is her dad and Blue's uncle.

Personality: He is a very cheerful person and always is willing to offer advice.

Likes/Dislikes: Eggs/Rocks, Weeds.

34) Liz

Liz co-runs the seed shop with Nina.

Personality: She is very cheerful and willing to help.

Likes/Dislikes: Flowers, Eggs/Rocks, Weeds.

35) Michael

Michael runs the tool shop with Ann.

Personality: Easily angered.

Likes/Dislikes: Uknown.

36) Nami

Nami is a drifter. She is also the weatherwoman on the tv... but I somehow doubt that this was done on purpose. She will only be in the village during Summer, however, so make friends with her then.

Personality: She is pretty anti-social, as she won't say anything more than the necessary.

Likes/Dislikes: Tomatoes, Tomato-related items/?

37) Tessie/Tai

Tai the blacksmith. He moves in Winter 6, with his grandson Tim. Also, he is the grandfather of Bob apparently.

To get him to move in:
- Junk Ore
- Copper Ore
- Silver Ore
- Rare Ore
- Moonstones
- Gold Ore (at least 10)

Personality: He is serious about his work, and gets annoyed if you come in too early to pick up your tools.

Likes/Dislikes: Unknown.

38) Tame/Tim

Tim reminds me of the "bug-catcher" from the gameboy version of Pokemon. He takes a liking to Meryl when she moves in, and he can mostly be found at the mines. To get him to move in, read the above requirements for Tai.

Personality: Bouncy, Adventurous

Likes/Dislikes: Poisonous Puffer Fish/???

39) Martha

Martha is your typical grandmother stereotype. She helps the doctor at the clinic. She is much like Elli's grandmother in FoMT. She can upgrade your Rucksack if you are good enough friends with her and if you bring her yarn. You can get the yarn from your sheep's wool + yarn maker or just buy it from Lyla's shop.

To get her to move in:

- Make friends with Alex

Personality: Oh so kind.

Likes/Dislikes: Cocoa Beans, Flowers, Star Cheese, Coral, Yarn / ??


40) Saibara

Saibara is familiar to those who have played BTN or FoMT/MFoMT. Unfortunately, Tai stole his job as blacksmith and now he just works as a Potter. He will open up Atelier Saibara, and is required to get Lyla to move in.

To get him to move in:

- Ship one  Good Clay from  the Mines (level 2)

Personality: Likes his work.

Likes/Dislikes: ??

Marriage Requirements
Once you complete the needed requirements for marriage (see below), the mayor appears at your house with a challenge. He tells you of a blue feather, the traditional way of proposal. Unfortunately, this feather happens to be on top of the tallest mountain in town. So, you have to climb a vertical cliff with falling rocks to get a... feather. Hey, at least now you can get married!

~Requirements~

1) The guy must have 8-10 hearts (Thanks to Kaida for this!)

2) You must have a level 3 house.

3) You must have a double bed.

Eventually, those that you didn't marry will marry with their corresponding partner, as shown below in the partner section. However, if you're playing the American version of the game (Magical Melody) then the characters will not get married for some reason.
